I'm ready! I'm hoping for a year with many fewer ups and downs. Dull and predictable would be just fine with me.
The holiday season was already too rushed when we were hit by a huge (by Hawaii standards) storm the Sunday before Christmas. Almost everyone has power back now, but it took quite a while because of the number of transmission lines down.
Of course, the storm system that then hit the mainland right around Christmas made ours look puny, but ours was bad enough.

In the last 30 days, we've had 42 new listings in my primary service area - Honokaa, Waimea, Kohala Ranch, Mauna Kea Resort, Mauna Lani Resort, Waikoloa Resort, Waikoloa Village, and Waikii Ranch. In that same period we've had 25 properties sell, and 26 properties drop in price. What's a little different this month is that 40 properties have gone into escrow. We won't know sales price until they close, but that is more activity than we've seen lately.

Dayna Kaia, Aina 'O Pu'uwai O' Hawai'i
This lady (on right) does not run a business, she "just" knocks herself out helping as many people as she can! I met her outside Waimea Feed when she was setting up for a Toys for Tots event. She delivers food to the elderly, even those who live far off the paved road, and even takes feed for their animals when needed. She's been doing this a while. She took in people who were displaced by the lava flow in 2018. She accepts donations, but I don't know the details. She can be reached at 808manuahi@gmail.com.

OK, time for some good news. I haven't verified all of this, but I hope it's all as good as it sounds! I am starting late on this issue, so this will be short. (Normally I'm collecting items all month long.)
* Bumblebees will roll wooden balls for seemingly no other reason than fun! Bored Panda
* Researchers at the University of California San Francisco have engineered molecules that allow for bonding of tissues and allow them to control the regenerative potential of the body, opening the possibility of building new organs! Good News Network
* Artemis, a goldendoodle, kept his two young human sisters safe for hours when they got lost in the woods in Louisiana. He fended off a feral pig (and they can be nasty) and wouldn't even let rescuers near the girls after his barks alerted them to the girls' location until a human he knew and trusted let him know it would be ok. https://www.today.com/parents/family/goldendoodle-keeps-human-sisters-safe-lost-woods-louisiana-rcna62602
